PAYMENT
The remaining cost will be made the day of the session via cash, check, or credit/debit card. The total after tax is $157.95. There is a 4% charge to use a card (I usually am against doing this, but please bear with us during the pandemic age! Avoid this charge by bringing cash or check).
COLORS
It’s no secret that I’m a fan of ORGANIC, NEUTRAL, MUTED COLORS, and timeless images. You will also never hear me say no to wearing white in my studio! I absolutely love WHITE on white! Also, think SOFT colors or hunter greens, burnt oranges, muted blues, yellows, etc. rather than neons or bright pinks, etc. Pinks photograph wonderfully, but the neon ones throw off the image from the focus being on the child. Ultimately, the decision is totally yours and these are just recommendations for how to make your images have that “Mariah Springs Photography” look!
BABY GIRLS
Babies and toddlers are everywhere. Legs in the air, arms flailing everywhere! This is why I’m a fan of ROMPERS! I love dresses for younger ones, but I rarely use one that doesn’t include matching bloomers. I am on a ROLL trying to get great images of your baby! We need no worries with wardrobe. So many times I’ve gotten a great shot and then you can see the baby’s diaper because it was a dress with no bloomers. Note: My daughter is almost 4 in the photos below. I had a time even with her and that dress. We constantly had to worry about the way she was sitting. I wish I had ordered her a romper at her age haha!
BOYS
Boys are harder to dress for photos than girls. There just aren’t as many options, but the available options are SO cute! I love suspenders and white/blue button-ups and grey/tan shirts with little buttons on them (henley’s) and khakis/grey pants and jeans. I’m currently loving the colored pants for boys too. My son has some blue ones that are so cute for photos. I also am a big fan of light blues in images, especially for Easter! Things I’m not a huge fan of in photos: shirts with logos (even a tiny one in the corner of the shirt), baby/toddler shoes (because you only see the bottoms in sitting photos). Think simple! Bow ties and suspenders are precious too!
GET RID OF THE SHOES!
Baby feet, kid feet, FEET. FEET are okay! And obviously, you can still wear shoes if you prefer to do that. Who wants to go shopping for one more thing? Make it easy!
NAIL POLISH
My assistant laughs at me because there’s nothing worse than when I get my entire vision together for photos of my family and then look down at my nails and realize they are bright green or neon pink. Doh! I’m always last minute painting them. Pick NEUTRAL! You don’t want nails to be the focal point of your image. Red is great for Christmas, but I would avoid it for any other type of session. Make sure children don’t have chipping nail polish. This is not something I photoshop.
JEWELRY
Simple is better. Remove the Apple Watch. Remove any large bulky jewelry. My preference is none, honestly! This usually isn’t an issue with children.
CONSIDER THE SCENE
Be sure to not just think about what will look good on your child, but think about it as a WHOLE with the scene.
So excited!! Just a few reminders:
PETS: My policy recently changed to allow pets in the studio; however, the bunnies are in the studio for Easter sessions, and I would prefer not to have any other animals in the studio for these particular sessions.
No full family or parents will be in the photos. No cousins/best friends shots will be taken unless they are booked back to back in separate spots.
No photos will be taken outside of the scene.
No wardrobe will be available besides headbands, crowns, suspenders, bunny hats, etc.
Your time spot is your only one. If you are late, your spot is gone without refund. I'm so sorry, but it is imperative that you are on time since these are booked back to back. Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early. You must be dressed and ready to photograph at the start of your session time.
There is an extra charge for additional edits BEYOND the photographer's control (stains on clothes, clothes not fitting properly, hair, extreme rashes, etc.). Most small scratches and blemishes can easily be removed at no charge, but extensive edits beyond my control take massive amounts of time and will require an additional charge.
Newborns and babies not sitting up yet are welcome, but please know that no sleeping/posed newborn shots will be taken, as those sessions take hours and we only have 20 minutes.
CURRENT First Year Plan members get $50 off the total fee for the session
